Podcasting on a global stage

Today's the 10th #InternationalPodcastDay, which seems as good a time as any to talk up the global impact of our work here at Bespoken.

Because - y'know - it's international innit.

Recently we made a 4-part series for the BBC World Service about 5 incredible women - from Spain, Germany, Italy and South Korea - who were locked in a deadly five-way race to be the first woman to climb all 14 of the world's 6000-metre-plus mountains.

'Amazing Sport Stories: Chasing Mountains' is a totally true tale, but it reads like a pulsating Hollywood thriller. Find it at BBC Sounds.

-- Producers Leeanne Coyle and Carys Wall, and hosts Joanna Jolly and Kathy Karlo.

Sticking with South Korea, we recently published an important piece of journalism, shining a light on the Koryoin - ethnically-Korean refugees finding safety in Korea after fleeing war in Ukraine. This one was called 'The Documentary: Ukraine to Korea', also for the BBC World Service.

-- Producer Amanda Hargreaves, host So Jeong Lee.

A 4-part series we made about global climate action for Accenture UK & Ireland - called 'Building Sustainable Futures' - featured former Irish Taoiseach and UN Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson.

We have made lots of excellent programmes from Sweden, working with top-class freelance broadcaster Maddy Savage - including one recently called Only Bleeding about practical ways Swedes have made it less taboo to talk about menstruation and periods.

We are right now putting finishing touches to another half-hour The Documentary for the BBC World Service - this time about a state-of-the-art children's hospital that is transforming lives in Uganda. I'm really looking forward to hearing this one when it's finished in the next couple of days. The producer on this one is Amanda Hargreaves. It's hosted in Entebbe, Uganda by Lulu Jemimah.

And bringing it right home to Scotland and Scots culture - we produced The Castalia Podcast, an insightful series of conversations about folk music in Cape Breton, Canada - and how it relates to Scotland's folk scene.

-- Hosted by multi-talented musician Isla Ratcliff Isla Ratcliff, with financial support from Creative Scotland.

So. Happy 10th International Podcast Day! Please enjoy these recent BTS pics of our team at work to celebrate.
